***TerrieBelle Update!!!*** First I wish to remind everyone that I do not tag anyone because I always accidentally leave someone out and they end up getting upset over it. So, if you havent read this yet and you contact me for an update I will lead you here so I dont have to repeat it over and over. :D Now.... Time for her update.... When she was first diagnosed with terminal, inoperable, Small Cell Lung Cancer, the Oncologist explained that she had a huge mass in her left lung near the center of her chest and was riddled with more, smaller masses ranging in different sizes. She was scheduled to undergo six sessions of Chemotherapy. However, after the fifth treatment, her small frail body proved to not be able to withstand any more. She is still going through the side effects of these treatments, such as severe nausea, fatigue, etc., until the chemicals are completely out of her system. Her radiologist wishes to start Brain Radiation Treatments as a preventive measure of the cancer cells from spreading to her brain. The GREAT news: Her last scan results are in... and... all those other masses she was riddled with are GONE!! Yes, I said GONE! And the big mass in her left lung, near the center of her chest?? It was bigger than a baseball. Now? Ill give you a visual: Place your left thumb at the first bend from the tip of your index finger. Got it? Good. That huge mass is now the size equal to the distance from the tip of your index finger to the first bend!!! 1.5 by 1.5 !!!!! She will need a CT scan every three months to monitor it. If it ever starts growing, shell need more Chemo to reduce it again. The radiation? Well, BOTH of her separate Head CT scans have been clear of any cancer cells. So, Mommy said...and I quote- If it aint broke, why fix it? She is concerned that she will have a hard time with the side effects of the radiation and says that why should they do that procedure when theres nothing there??? Her oncologist says she has time to think it through and decide after the first of the year. She said SHE HAS TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am elated!!! My Mommy is such a great fighter. She has battled and suffered through so much that I help her with daily. And, I know that shes only doing this...only going through all of this for her children and her grandchildren. I love her so!!! With her favorite holiday coming up- Christmas, I thought Id share two photos I took today!!! Ohhhh PS- She doesnt have to go back to her oncologist until FEBRUARY!!! Thank you God!!!!
