(Thank you Amy Chavez for posting) Our local schools rock! This past weekend, our neighborhood Huntley Hills Elementary came in 5th place out of 12 private and public elementary schools in the Chamblee-Dunwoody area in a first-ever area math competition! The Chamblee Middle School Reading Bowl team took first place at the state reading bowl competition in Athens on 3/8/14. Last month, 6 Chamblee Middle School students were elected to go to the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair to represent DeKalb – more than any other DeKalb middle school. At the district Science and Engineering Fair this spring, Chamblee Middle won more awards than any other DeKalb middle school. (1st and 3rd place in engineering - materials and bioengineering, 1st place in mathematical sciences, 1st place in computer science, 1st place in energy and transportation, and 1st place in microbiology, 2nd and 3rd place in behavioral and social sciences; 3rd place in biochemistry, 3rd place in chemistry, and 3rd place in engineering - electrical and mechanical.) The Chamblee Middle Science Olympiad Team placed #1 in anatomy at the regional tournament on 3/8/14 at Georgia State University. An outstanding Chamblee Middle student won 1st place at the area Technology Fair – the student’s winning project went on to win 2nd place on 3/8/14 in the state technology competition in Macon, Ga. The Chamblee Middle Mathcounts team has qualified to advance to the State Competition which will be held at Georgia Tech on Monday, March 17.
