“That rediscovery of our true selves is what the ego is really - TopicsExpress

“That rediscovery of our true selves is what the ego is really afraid of. We do not fear losing the self; we fear finding the Self. The ego transmutes that fear into the fear of loss of self, and tricks us into thinking that the loss of awareness of the body would mean the loss of self-awareness entirely. Suppose an angel of light suddenly appeared to us and showed us a doorway of glowing light, and pointing to that doorway, said, Just step through the doorway and you will be in God, radiant in light. But when you step through you will leave your body behind and never see it again. I know that even though, at 55, my body is showing distinct signs of aging, and even though it has never been all I wished it were, I would feel a deep reluctance to leave it behind forever. (Which is probably a major part of why Im still here!) I think that is true for nearly everyone. Very, very few would step through that doorway.” Excerpt From: Allen Watson - “I Need Do Nothing.”
