(The Gorkhas-son of the soil,pride of the Nation).Many people have a misconception about the Gorkhas from Nepal.There could nt b a grater mistake than this.The Gorkhas are in fact the aboriginies of India and they can trace their history back to ancient times.The gorkhas community is the product of Indo-Aryan and mangoloid assimilation from ages past.As a liguistic group they can trace their origin back to Indo-Aryan tebeto-burman beginings.Infact the gorkhas consist of both Indo-Aryan and mangoloid racial groups.In the mahabharata and manusmriti names of khasa are mentioned.They are infact the gorkhas.The gorkhas spoke the languge then knwn as khaskura as a community existed in Nepal which it later changed to another ethnic name.The Linchhavis,one of the aboriginal tribes in India originally live in the plains of present nepal.During the early centuries,the gorkhas,the aboriginal tribe in India,migrated to nepal and established themselves there.other group frm India also migrated to nepal which comprised high casts Hindu.During the invansion of India in which they occupied past of north India frm the 11th century to 16th century,many India tribes frm the plans of India migrated to nepal for security and safejy of their religion and calture.These migrants to nepal were mainly of high casts and powerful groups and they themselves estabalished their kingdom and principalities.You can safely deduce that the major part of the papulation of nepal came frm India later came to b knwn as Gorkhas.Infact the saha dynasty which ruled nepal for almost 240 years was frm Rajisthan.Besides this,there were the kiratas or mangoloid Gorkhas also who were invited by mugal king to b estabalished in the mugal army.Later this word became synonymous for anyone who left India and went to India.Thoes who joined army of maharaja Ranjit sing in Lahore.These terms are still in use in army circles.So why do the people frm other communities say that we are frm nepal?I suggest them to study this history of Gorkhas to knw the truth of Gorkhas!jai gorkha!
