† The Hidden Well † Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink. Gen. 21:19 ESV Rejected, alone, despised, homeless, and now an outcast, Hagar wandered in the desert of Beersheba with her son until she ran out of water. When all hope was gone and her son was about to die of thirst, she sat down and wept bitterly. God heard her cry from heaven and opened her eyes to see a well of water that was near her. There was plenty of water right there, but Hagar could not see it. Her cry caused God to open her eyes and to be able to see what was around her. We can have 20/20 vision and still be blind (Rev 3:17). God is our ultimate source, not what we are able to see with our own eyes and strength. God will hear your cry too, and there may be a well of water right beside you as you walk through your own personal desert. Sometimes He can make a little go a long way. Cry out to the Lord and put your trust in Him, for it is He that causes the blind to see.
