“The Illustrator’s Garden” is a long-running show at CSU’s University Art Museum that includes a suite of three exhibitions with floral and botanial themes. That sounds like a perfect complement to the neighboring Annual Flower Test Garden on the lawns of the University Center for the Arts. The illustrations, drawn from the CSU Libraries special collections, include such well-known artists as Walter Crane and Aubrey Beardsley. Features are scientific illustrations, garden manuals, literary collaborations and children’s books. When I handled Public Relations for agriculture at CSU, I was privy to many of these illustrations and I must say they’re outstanding.
