The Obama Administration is having closed door meetings with the Wind Energy Association and a couple of “environmental” organizations to iron out the details that would extend the length of “take” permits for wind farms to disturb or kill eagles from five years to 30 years. We are not invited to these meetings and neither are you. “Conservation groups generally support a permit system that would require wind developers and the Fish and Wildlife Service to more accurately predict eagle impacts, but they argue too little is known about the long-term effects of wind farms to issue 30-year permits” When the environmentalists sell out the wildlife, we often lose the wildlife. The groups that want to extend the Take permits are: Defenders of Wildlife The Sierra Club The Audubon Society The Wilderness Society The Nature Conservancy The Natural Resources Defense Council Choose your environmental group carefully.
