“The Power of Praise and the Word” (Psalms 149:4-9) “Many believers don’t know the power of praise and the Word upon their lives. Praise means acknowledging and declaring His goodness and His mighty acts upon our lives. We also know that our legal access to Him is His Word, and we must understand that He will never violate His Word. This is what we will be discussing and studying for today. Our text is found in the Book of Psalms chapter one hundred and forty-nine, and verses four to nine; “For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the Lord.” We must always remember that God takes pleasure to His people, and we are His people because we have His Son into our hearts. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” (John 1:12) In the passage of the scriptures in the Book of Psalms, God commanded His people to ‘let the high praises of God be in our mouth, and the twoedged sword in our hand.’ God did not just say we are to give Him praise, but a high praises. Ang ibig sabihin ay di mababang uri ng pagpupuri kundi mataas na uri ng pagpupuri. Kasama ng pagpupuri ay ang sword na magkabilaan ng talim. The sword that the Psalmis is mentioning here represenst the Word of God. Ito ang sinasabi ng aklat ng Hebreo; “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two- edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:12-13) We observe that the Psalmist gave us the benefits and enumerated some of what the high praises and the Word can do. He listed five things that will happen when we praise God in accordance to His Word. 1. To execute vengeance upon the heathen 2. And punishments upon the people 3. To bind their kings with chains 4. And their nobles with fetters of iron 5. To execute upon them the judgment written When we give high praises to God in accordance with His Word we are bringing judgment in the spirit realm. Nagkakaroon pala ng labanan sa realm ng spirit kapag tayo ay nagpupuri sa Diyos kasama ang Salita ng Diyos. Ganito ang nangyari sa panahon ni Haring Jehoshaphat; “Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice. And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. And when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.” And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, and say, “Give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.” And when they began to sing and praise, the Lord set an ambush against the men of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah, so that they were routed. For the men of Ammon and Moab rose against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, devoting them to destruction, and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they all helped to destroy one another.” (2 Chronicles 20:20-23) Nakita natin kung paanong nanalo ang mga Judah sa kanilang kalaban na walang ginamit na sandata kundi pagpupuri lamang sa Diyos. Nagkaroon ng confusion sa spirit realm kaya nagkaroon din ng confusion sa pisikal realm, kaya sila nag-away away na magkakasama. Through praise we are bringing confusion to the enemies camp. Makikita rin natin ang pagliligtas ng Diyos sa buhay nina Paul at Silas at sa isang Warden sa pamamagitan ng pagpupuri sa Diyos. “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyones bonds were unfastened.” (Acts 16:25-26) Matuto tayong magpuri sa Diyos na gamit ang Salita ng Diyos, siguradong tayo ay magtatagumpay sa lahat ng larangan pakikipaglaban.”
