[The RCMP Complaints Commission Saturday, January 31 at the Greenwood Lodge in Fords Mills at 1:00 pm.] The RCMP Complaints Commission is planning a series of public meetings to explain their role, to answer questions about their role and to assist, if necessary, citizens, with possible complaints, to lodge them. Following up on the individual and petitioned complaints, lodged about RCMP actions during the Kent County protests, the Complaints Commissioner has recently lodged his own complaint in order to broaden the scope of the inquiry. I tried to attach the relevant document from the Complaints Commission website which explains what this means in more detail but for some reason, it wont let me do it. Maybe you will have more luck than I have. The title of the relevant document is Chair Initiated Complaint and Public Interest Investigation into the RCMP response to the shale gas (fracking) protests in Kent County, New Brunswick, in 2013. The first of these meetings is scheduled for Saturday, January 31at the Greenwood Lodge in Fords Mills at 1:00 pm. They would like people to register ahead of time, in order to prepare enough refreshments, but they also understand that people could just show up. The hall holds about 100 people. To Register contact [email protected]. Subsequent meetings will be held in Rexton, St. Louis and Moncton around the middle of march. (Dates and locations being finalized) They are also open to other meetings in other places if there is a need and enough interest to warrant them. FYI.
