[The pictures here are from before the ride, after the ride and a short video of her getting fired up for the ride] Yesterday was a good day in central Illinois. The Queen made sure she was prepared by getting a good nights sleep and taking her medications. She and her husband dressed for blustery but warm weather and that also contributed to a good day. Dawn, not feeling the best, and Tommy made sure this day became reality. Finally, Dean, owner of a calm and well-trained 16 year-old mustang, did his very best to make the ride as enjoyable and safe as possible. The end result was a 20-25 minute ride that rivaled a massage as the best way to get to a “10” day for the lovely Queen (her words, not mine!). There is therapy and then theres therapy As any patient will surely say (dont call me “shirley!”) On this last November Saturday The Queen equine therapy was A-OK. She rode a mustang of good repute A calm and well trained horse The ride was with little dispute A therapeutic one of course. The mounting and dismounting Were the hardest for the Queen While the walking and sauntering Gave lots of pleasure for the time between. The mustang took to the lovely Queen As soon as he saw the carrot She had him hooked like a fish on a string He treated her great from then on out. The experience ended with thanks to all And a tired but happy patient The soreness and pain at a level quite small Means a repeat of this event. Equine therapy rivals a massage in the QOL column Said the patient for whom it was provided The pain and soreness was at a minimum While the pleasure and good feelings were highlighted. Thanks to Dawn, Tommy and Dean For making the day a success This writer could tell his lovely Queen Was in heaven – but still at the same address!
