"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, - TopicsExpress

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." Warrants must be specific, courts have upheld this principle since the 4th amendments inception. Example: Cops cannot go to a court and ask for a warrant for everybodys phone records in the area that a crime was committed last week, they must have "probable cause" (not the lesser-reasonable cause) to get a warrant for even ONE persons phone records. It must specify which phone number, who owns it, and show probable cause of a crime committed to even entertain the possibility of getting a warrant. Dragnet warrants for millions of seperate, individuals records such as the NSA has obtained, are completely illegal. The Supreme Court has ALWAYS knocked down any attempt at allowing them. The ACLU, EFF and the rest will win this suit once it reaches the High Court. The secret FISA court has been shown to be a complete rubber stamp factory and should be abolished....For God sakes the man who wrote the law, Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner says this is WAY beyond what is authorized by law, he was appalled when Snowden exposed what they were doing. politico/story/2013/07/electronic-frontier-foundation-nsa-lawsuit-94292.html
