“The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does - TopicsExpress

“The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students, can form their views to conform to that of his or hers. It should be stressed that teachers are liberators only to those students who desire to be liberated. What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become fully and truly themselves. True education liberates the students from the shackles of dictated thinking!” ―Paulo Freire, (in his book, “We Make the Road by Walking: Conversations on the Praxis of Education and Social Change”; p. 17.) These photos of me and my masteral students in Education (M.Ed) were taken during the last day of our classes in EDFD 201 (Foundational Philosophies of Education) last October 25, 2014 at UP Cebu SRP Campus Auditorium. Congratulations to my EDFD 201 students for putting-up the feat of long marathon class reporting and lectures from 8:00 AM through 1:00 PM (for my Philo of Education, morning session) and 1:00 PM through 6:00 PM (for my Philo of Education, afternoon session) during our last day of classes. Happily, for all of us, we were able finish our syllabus—thanks to your abiding interest, patience and love for learning. Thanks for putting-up with me and my occasional “gentle yet firm reminders” for you to excel and to perform your work with academic depth. Indeed, learning is a reward on its own; but I promise you all: I will give the grade that truly commensurate your performance and efforts in my class. My sincerest gratitude to all of you. My life is enriched by meeting you—my life is enriched by the colors you gave to it each Saturdays of the First Trimester past… So long! God bless you all.
