The world produces enough food for everyone, but not everyone has enough food. Hunger is still the greatest scandal of our age. This need not happen. The proportion of hungry people in Ethiopia fell from nearly two thirds to under half, and in Malawi from 45% to 23%, in just a decade. There is enough food in the world to feed everyone, yet one in eight women, men and children on Earth go to bed hungry every night. Hunger kills more people than Aids, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Two million children die each year because of malnutrition. There’s enough food, but it’s not going to hungry people who need it to live.
