#TheDirtyThirty #Day3 - spruced this old boy up :) Mataariki If it werent for the stars the night sky would finally be brave enough to snuff out the moon and lay down with the earth we would plunge into an embrace of darkness light would wither like hope in prisoners of war fade like a ridiculed idea dilute like yellow paint brush tips under water Van Goghs starry night captured without wonder black strokes dead of inspiration swirling like spiritless pirouettes perfectly executed yet lifeless without them we are children searching empty window frame contents before we sleep prayers and dreams sent into nothing and when man evolves to light up the night sky with invention still still our reach is restricted by our comprehension the stars their beauty have always let us believe beyond they relinquish our grasp and exceed the fathomable as if to look through them was to thread momentarily through the eye of the camel into heaven bliss we navigate constellations to find this we navigate history and words to redefine myth as unquestionable legend to enjoy the sun without ropes to fashion star shaped hopes that poke through the canopy and allow ambition to elope with fruition Mataariki is upon us the world has spun its cycle and we again marvel as myth becomes animate adamant that science can be defied tonight as these handmade kites travel higher than any rocket or satellite ever has we risk the impossible like a son splashing his tears on the ceiling of his family home so they’d stick like eyes on the other side of closed doors in rooms that argue twinkling beacons of hope we are certain that the world’s biggest broken heart does not reside in a blue whale but deep in the earth and far beyond the clouds we celebrate and inhabit the space between eternal lovers like a newborn clutched between its parents Papatuanuka earth Mother Ranginui sky Father tonight the stars remind us to Karakia into the mouth of Tawhirimatea so he might breathe gratitude into the wind enriching our spirits and build a strength that like Tane Mahuta stretch into the heavens as worthy pillars bearing the weight of godly heartache for us tonight childrens dreams pour out of the galaxy carried like hemoglobin on a silver lining to the hearts of those of us who forget that the world isnt black yet colour races like shooting stars collecting window sill imagination for the ignorant and complacent race like unsettled minds that havent spent enough time stargazing theyve overlooked that the heart will always supersede the stars for inspiration for there you find the brightest of all earthly creation.
