“There are men who work eight hours a day and who make a great effort to read at night in order to instruct themselves. They cannot devote themselves to verifications in large libraries. They take the book (or journal) at its word. One does not have the right to give them mistakes to eat. What sense is there in alleging that the authors are of good faith? They do not work physically eight hours. Society [the Church] feeds them so that they have the time and can take the trouble to avoid error. A railway switchman who causes a derailment would not be well received if he alleged that he was in good faith…” - Simone Weil
