“This Island exceeds even the highest expectations” If you have booked, or are thinking of booking a holiday on Kandooma Island then you will not be disappointed. This is a typical Maldivian island with a very untypical team managing it. Island transfer:.... Pick up is just a few yards from the airport arrivals area. You are whisked away on one of the islands speed boats for the 40 minute high speed transfer to Kandooma Island. Quite exhilarating, and it is great to get some fresh air having been cooped up in a plane for over 10 hours. Staff:..... The staff are very professional and extremely caring and accommodating, and always willing to help. There are over 300 staff (crew) from more than 30 countries on the island. It is great to see all of them getting on so well together. We got to know many of the staff during our two week stay. Each and every one of them was a joy to know. In particular we would like to thank Winston, Siva and Shathir for looking after us so well. Island:.... This is a medium sized Maldivian island, taking about 25 minutes to walk around. Beaches are kept very clean, and the inner paths are also swept daily, The island is fogged at 5:30 every evening to keep the mosquitoes in check. On the east side the waves provide great entertainment for the surfers, whilst the south / west sides offer calmer seas for swimming and snorkeling. Whilst the beach snorkeling is OK, the daily complimentary trip offers an opportunity to escape for an hour to explore local reefs that are teeming with fish. This resort is very popular with the Chinese and Australians, as well UK visitors, and also has families dropping in for a few days from Dubai and Singapore. Accommodation:..... The island has over 160 rooms. We stayed in one of their single storey (semi detached) beach villas. These rooms are very stylish, well appointed and of a good size, perfect for just two people. The outside bathroom, allows you to shower under the stars. The bed was very comfortable, with a selection of pillows. Food:.... You dine in one of three restaurants depending on your requirements ( and budget ). The Kandooma cafe is where breakfast, lunch and dinner is available. This tends to be buffet style, depending on guest numbers. The pool bar serves pizza etc for those wanting to spend time around the large swimming pool. The Kitchen offers a “fine dining” a la carte experience in the evening. If you are on the “standard” all inclusive package you can dine very well at the the Kandooma cafe. The food on offer is varied and truly international. If you like authentic Chinese ,or Indian food then you wont be disappointed. Eddie and team make meal-times a real joy. If you upgrade to the “Stay Indulgent” AI package you can dine every day at the Kitchen. Otherwise you can just organise a romantic meal for special occasions. Either way you are likely to over eat!
