( This barbwire is all that is left to show where the adobe house used to be) When John A. Rockfellow survey the international boundary line in 1900, He ran into an interesting building situated right on the border between the two countries. It was a two-room adobe building with a breezeway between the rooms. Mr Slaughter advised Rockfellow that in 1889 a Mormon man came up from Mexico to work at the ranch with two wives. Since it was against the law for him to have two wives in the United States, He solved the problem by building the house on the border and letting one wife live on each side. One on the Agua Prieta side and the other on the Douglas side.
