This wall-sized quilt is composed of snippets of fabric contributed by many #Palestine refugee women displaced by three years of conflict in #Syria. A team of talented women working out of the collective shelters then stitched them onto the front panel. A symbol of the determination and the community, the quilt took pride of place at the four-day charity bazaar at the Orient Club in #Damascus, which opened on 17 March in honour of International Women’s Day. Inaugurated by Abdallah Al-Laham, Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs in Syria, in the presence of Palestinian NGOs and 36 displaced refugee women, the bazaar showcased art, tapestries and handicrafts including accessories, handbags and scarves, inviting shoppers to explore the work produced by women who have sought safety in collective shelters.
