“Those in favor of raising minimum wage are operating on the premise that the business is responsible for the person. It isn’t. The business didn’t make that person take the job. The person, applied, interviewed and was hired to the position based on the agreement of terms by both parties. I started work at under $5.50 per hour in the early 80’s. I didn’t like the pay. I trained and found another job and made more money. I trained again and found a better job. I’ve never been to college. Now I have my own business. Being in the land of opportunity means you get the freedom to make your own choices and making it happen. I never expected any business to give me anything more than we agreed on. That’s what motivates you to do better, if you have the will and desire. Low wage jobs aren’t there so people can buy a house, a car, a large screen TV, the newest cell phone, and eat out. If you could do all of that on minimum wage what’s the point.” - Rick Stokes
