, Those of you who await eagerly for our Hut Updates will surely be interested to hear of a very exiting discovery made while excavating the foundations of our natural fertiliser & transfer plant. (See photos) . After much discussion with well known Red Bobs Gullys very own Australian Fauna expert & naturalist , David Rabbitburra , we are seriously considering the fact that it may well be the only remaining intact skeleton of the ( now extinct) Tasmanian sabre toothed long tailed legless goana rat.(as yet unconfirmed)....Mr Rabbitburra is hesitant to confirm , as this particular species was so rare on the Australian Mainland ,& in fact there is no proof of it ever having travelled further north of the Victorian border let alone as far north as Karuah... A little known fact about the Tasmanian sabre toothed long tailed legless goana rat, ( here after to be referred to as the Gorat). Is that it inadvertently played a major role in the extinction of the Tasmanian Tiger, as ( according to Mr Rabbitburra ), the Gorat was the major food source of the Tasmanian Tiger ,& as a result ,the poor old Gorat was literally eaten into extinction by the Tigers......As an obvious result , this left an unreplenishable shortage in the food chain of the Tasmanian Tiger & ( need I say it ). The rest is history....it always amazes me how much of a fuss is made of the Tasmanian Tiger becoming extinct ( which by the way I find deeply regrettable) .But what about a little bit of respect for the poor old Gorat ..............thank you for taking the time to read this post but please remember that Mr Rabbitburra hasnt confirmed the authenticity of our discovery as yet , so some of the above may not be entirely accurate ........ Stay tuned for the next instalment . Sent from my iPad
