“Thunder Day” Looms! This coming Sunday (4th August) is the last of the “Thunder Days” for this season, although there will still be some anti-det runs taking place in coming months. Once again, the event provides a great opportunity to get ‘up close and personal’ with our live aircraft as they are powered up. The aircraft we are planning to take part are: the SE5a WWI bi-plane, the De Havilland Devon twin prop, now the superb Douglas DC3 / C47 Dakota in it’s second “Thunder Day” start up. The jets will be the Blackburn Buccaneer XN 974 (subject to final confirmation), and the ‘Mighty Hunter’ Nimrod MR2 XV250. The Handley Page Victor XL 231″Lusty Lindy”, will conduct a ‘dry’ start – ie. the engines will be turned over but not fuel fired. This still makes an impressive amount of noise. Another great day of activity for all to enjoy!!
