#Tithing Tithing under the New Testament? • According to Malachi 3:8-12; 1. They told you that you are robbing God for not paying tithes. > Tell them its a lie, because Christ Jesus has paid it all for us with His life, and cried IT IS FINISHED! (John 19:30) 2. They told you that you are cursed with a curse for not paying tithes. > Tell them its a lie, because Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a CURSE FOR US (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Brethren, I speak in the manner of men: Though it is only a man’s covenant, yet if it is confirmed, no one annuls or adds to it. (Galatians 3:13-15 NKJV) 3. Tell them that tithing is for this whole nation of Israel, and not for the Church of Christ who He redeemed to God by His blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:9-10) 4. They told you to bring all the tithes into the [earthly] storehouse, That there may be food in [earthly] Gods house. > Tell them it is a lie, because we are the [earthly] house of God today and the poor are His [earthly] storehouse; that Jesus commanded us to give instead saying, Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Luke 12:33-34 NKJV) + Tell them that money is not food, for theres no such thing as monetary-tithe in the bible. And Jesus says, a worker is worthy of his food [not his money]. (Matthew 10:10 NKJV) 5. They told you try God now in tithing if He will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it. > Tell them it is a lie, because Jesus has entered and opened the heaven door for us, and the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, (Ephesians 1:3 NKJV) + Jesus confirmed it when He appeared to John after His ascension saying, I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. (Revelation 3:8 NKJV) + Do you think not paying tithes will shut the door Jesus says no one can shut? 6. They told you that if you pay tithes God will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field. > Tell them it is not true, because you are of God, and have overcome them[the devourer and his cohorts by the blood of the Lamb], because He who is in you is greater than he[the devourer] who is in the world. (I John 4:4 NKJV) + Tell them that youre no longer afraid of the devourer because Inasmuch then as the children[we] have partaken of flesh and blood, He[Jesus] Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him[the devourer] who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV) 7. They told you that if you pay tithes all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land. > Tell them it is a lie, because Jesus says, you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake...woe to you when all men speak well of you, For so did their fathers to the false prophets. (Matt 24:9. Luke 6:26 NKJV) • You may say but many are paying tithes and having great testimonies for doing so. But let me remind you what Jesus says about that too, for He says Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it...Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:13-14, 21-23 NKJV) • You may also say but tithe predates the law, so it is not a law because Abraham paid tithe and we are children of Abraham. But Abraham was a prophet which brought him under the prophets, and we are his children by faith in Christ; Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM...Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he...For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. (Jn 8:58. Matt 11:11,13 NKJV) > John the Baptist was greater than Abraham, and the least in the kingdom of heaven through Christ is greater than John. Think about it. + We are new creation with a new law of Spirit and Life in Christ Jesus; For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision[law] nor uncircumcision[prophets] avails anything, but faith working through love. (Galatians 5:6 NKJV) The Church is called THE FAITH; For we walk by faith, not by sight. (II Corinthians 5:7 NKJV) Finally, Think over these things I am saying [understand them and grasp their application], for the Lord will grant you full insight and understanding in everything. Constantly keep in mind Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [as] risen from the dead, [as the prophesied King] descended from David, according to the good news (the Gospel) that I preach.
