“To cultivate kindness is a valuable part of the business of life.” - Samuel Johnson . cul·ti·vate .verb . to prepare and work on (land) in order to raise crops; . to promote or improve the growth of (a plant, crop, etc.) by labor and attention. . to develop or improve by education or training; train; refine: Cultivates is a verb, which means you have to take action, participate, and work. We cultivate our flower beds, cultivate our gardens and fields in order to produce something of beauty or to nourish our bodies. We are constantly doing things to promote and improve the growth of our fields, something we have to work on constantly with both labor and attention. Your attention/relationship with your fields (or lack of) will determine the crops/fruits it will produce, and they will not appear over night. We develop faith, patience, and hope while waiting for our crops to grow, and we see how our work has paid off. We cultivate our faith, our relationship with Christ, whether it’s Sunday school, saying grace, living a Godly life, loving your enemies, getting on your knees in thanks, or just one verse at a time. You have to “do” something; it just doesn’t happen. Participate, nourish your body with the Spirit, promote and improve that relationship and you will see the fruits come. Not overnight: crops take time. It takes action on your part, daily participation through faith, patience, love, hope, and kindness. Your participation develops this relationship and once you have cultivated it properly, you to will be able to enjoy the blessings of Christ. . Have you tended ALL of your crops today?
