***Todays Crystal Cavern rocked!!! The playlist with all these incredible ladies*** 1. Dennis Holseybrook Go For A Ride intro... 2. Laura Taylor Whitfield True Forgiveness Hey Dear Deborah, thank you for this, here is mp3 of my song “True Forgiveness”now then , you need a mainstream influence? I am a bit confused here..I love any thing Joni Mitchell? Amelia song? oh Gosh there are so many songs, can you pick one Deborah? I know you are very busy, but let me know if I am doing this correctly Love out Music always Thank you Sincerely Laura Taylor Whitfield...then she went on & wrote ‘True Forgiveness’ was initially about a friend going through a tough divorce, and then the song pretty much speaks for itself! Feeling that true forgiveness is the key..it is selfish really , as we free ourselves when we forgive. I then suggested Willy and got this response, love you Deborah and great idea on Willy..yahoo! take good care! thank you deeply! reverbnation/laurataylorwhitfield 3. Joni Mitchell Willy 4. Curvy Jane Just Breathe (Mattys Song) Here’s the track you requested Deb – also asked me to send it to you, Doc. J JUST BREATHE (Matty’s Song): Matty is my 14 year old friend with CF. He’s a beautiful kid with a lovely family and the reason I am active as a “CF WARRIOR” for CF Awareness and a sponsor in fundraising with Picktease products. I love him with all my heart. CF is a terrible disease and it effects every aspect of his young life. This is a short song but it says all I have to say to him and those who suffer this terrible fate. I have had a full and wonderful life and would give him my breath if I could. All we can do is pray that a cure is found. My inspiration for this song is, of course, my cowboy, Matty. I spoke to him once from the hospital on the phone and he is always such a happy, beautiful soul – no matter how he is feeling. Though very disappointed that he couldn’t play cricket with his team, as he had taken a turn on the field, he was very happy to talk to me through very laboured breath. We could only speak briefly. It tore me up. I hung up, picked up my guitar and this song wrote itself. I just sang what I was feeling. I would truly give him my breath in a heartbeat – he’s young and has so much life to live. I’ve had a good life and it truly has been enough if I could make the exchange with him. My influence track wold have to be, “I Won’t Let Go” by Rascal Flatts. No matter what life hands those we love, we must let them know that we are there for them and we won’t let go. Matty loves this song…so do I. (and so do I). reverbnation/curvyjane 5. Rascal Flatts I Wont Let Go 6. The Pondhawks Stranded One of the songs that inspired The PondHawks song Stranded is Not A Second Time by Lennon/McCartney... Parallel story-lines... I remember the night Jorie and I were in the studio laying down the vocal tracks to our song Stranded... I was slated to sing the lead vocals, and Jorie to sing the harmony... But on a hunch, a I asked Jorie to give a whirl at the melody line, (I discretely pressed the record button on...) and she nailed em!... So I turned to her and said, Thats a take!... Now Ill sing the harmony!... And the rest is history...Peace and Love, Mario thepondhawks/ 7. The Beatles Not A Second Time 8. SamRB (written by Jemi Blue) How Many Rains Hi, Deb: Heres the back story for How Many Rains. I was visiting my son, Josh, while he was in graduate school in Rhode Island a couple of years ago, and we decided to go to Newport to tour some of the old mansions there. As we were driving by a cemetery, I noticed the various stages of wear on the grave markers and began to wonder how many rains each one had seen. Originally, the first line of the chorus was “How many rains have these grave markers seen?” But a song that began as a sort of metaphor for life became a song about loss, so the chorus was changed to what you hear now. “How Many Rains” was composed and recorded by the wonderfully talented Sam RB and produced by Andrew Buckton, all in New Zealand. It was one of the tracks on Sams Queen Street Acoustics CD, released in 2013. Thanks so much for including it on your show. Influence track: “Sad Cafe” by The Eagles https://soundcloud/jemi-blue samrb/ 11. The Eagles Sad Cafe 12. Karena K Midnight Walk The Shangri Las, Walking In The Sand or Rickie Lee Jones Last Chance Texaco would probably be good choices for an influence track, so whichever you prefer of those two. Cheers. KK karenak/ 13. Shangri Las Walking In The Sand 14. Jen Chapin Feed Your Baby Here’s my tune “Feed Your Baby” for which you can also find a video to mention on the show at youtu.be/J3hc8OUNOs8 A great influence track to play would be “Grandma’s Hands” by Bill Withers. jenchapin/ 15. Bill Withers Grandma’s Hands 16. Miami Dan & The Hayes Street Band (Kate Randall & Daniel Yoe vocals) Time To Move On “Time to Move On” was originally intended to be a male solo vocal. I got the idea to record it as a duet after hearing “Come Tomorrow” by Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb on the way to the studio for the first session. When we finished the first run through of it at 120 beats per minute I didn’t like the feel of it, so we immediately redid the track as a ballad at about 64 bpm and I liked the second version better. The long instrumental outro in the song was the idea of our drummer, Billy Rivers. The girl who recorded the scratch vocal had a cold and didn’t really seem to like the song very much, so I decided to look for another female vocalist. Our lead guitarist, B. Keith Williams suggested a 17 year old girl named Katey Randall who had been singing with him occasionally at his solo gigs. Nobody in the band except Keith had ever heard her sing so we didn’t know what to expect. When she sang the first note, though, everyone in the studio – including engineer Paul Hornsby – looked at one another, and I knew we had found the right girl. I decided to have her record vocals for both the ballad version of the song as well as the original uptempo, country-flavored version, which we included on the “Star of the Beach” album as a bonus track. An additional version of the ballad track, with Chris Hicks of the Marshall Tucker Band doing the male lead, was recorded and also included as a bonus track on the album. The fact that we included 3 different versions of “Time To Move On” on the “Star of the Beach” album is an indication of how much I liked the song. I was surprised that none of the dj’s ever really played it. I think people may have been a little confused by the fact there were three different versions. If I had it to do over again I probably would have left the bonus tracks off the album. During the final mix, we decided to replace the original piano parts with piano and Hammond B-3 parts that were overdubbed in Nashville by Johnny Neel, who has written material and appeared on stage with the Allman Brothers Band, Michael McDonald, David Allen Coe and many other musicians. Katey is 22 years old now, is a fine songwriter, and calls herself Kate. She performed the song with us on stage last year at our live show at the Douglass Theatre in Macon. miamidan/ reverbnation/miamidan 17. Barry Gibb & Barbra Streisand Come Tomorrow (written by Ashley, Barry, Stephen Gibb...lyrics by Barbra Streisand) 18. Aria Dark A Different Dance I’d love to use A Different Dance (I’ll attach the mp3 again here) for the show. As for a mainstream track that has influenced me, I’d say Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey because Steve Perry has an incredible vocal performance and the meaning behind that song is very inspirational. I tend to write songs that create a story and the words are very important to me. Another mainstream track that I’d pick would be Far Away by Nickelback. Chad Kroeger delivers such feeling and emotion into his performance that I can’t help but be inspired...I selected Journey, I love Steve Perry https://facebook/pages/Aria-Dark/303504586369233 Give the gal a like!!! 19. Journey Dont Stop Believing 20. Nancy Ryan Indecision Lets see. My early influences were Santana, Mick Jagger and Pink Floyd and soooooo many others. I did not get into Country Music until much later in my music career when I realized I was writing Country Music, hehehehehehehe I was basically a Rock N Roll Girl! They say I remind people of Bonnie Raitt, Lucinda Williams and Anna Dr Franko. Me, Choose a track!!! A song! I Cant Get No Satisfaction Mic reverbnation/nancyryan 21. The Rolling Stones (I Cant Get No) Satisfaction 22. Lesus Mor (Maribeth vocals) Dawn Of A New Day (Maribeth Mundall & Gregg Charles) Hey Debs. Heres the song. Its about hope and change. I wrote it at work one day watching a sunrise and drifting away in thoughts. I started the lyrics and then Maribeth took over to complete it. :) It has always been a favorite and marks the potential for hope. Its been used for charity events such as the Amer Cancer Society and Amer Heart Foundation. As per Maribeth, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing...this happened to be the first song I had ever sung off the cuff and Gregg had scribbled down some ideas at work, taken a pic with his phone and emailed the ideas to me. I got there and tried to put a bit of a slow jazz feel to the lyrics but felt a second verse was needed, so I did one on the fly...the instrumental / vocalization part I started out thinking Pink Floyd and took it from there...I like the spaceship taking off thing Gregg sometimes does as an outro... reverbnation/lesusmor 23. Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here 24. Dennis Holseybrook Go For A Ride outro...
