(Translated by Orxan) A world star: Polina Rahimova We everyone heard her name in 2011 when she scored 48 points against Uralochka in Challenge Cup. At that time, putting on Azerrail’s jersey, 21 years old young star candidate qualified her team to the final with her amazing performance and had big role to win the cup. When everybody expected for her becoming a world star she got an unlucky injury and stayed out of court during a year. But those days ended for Polina. She showed the world her capacity in 2014 World Championship took place in Italy. Despite her National team Azerbaijan stopped struggle after second round, Polina was the best scorer and the best server of the tournament. She is carrying on her great performance in Korean club “Hyundai Hillstate”. She was selected as MVP seven times out of 9 games and the best scorer by 312 points. - Can you tell us about Korea transfer ? We know you signed in June.. ⑰: I got so many offers from different countries for a long time. But I was waiting for right moment, to be totally ready viewpoint of physical and mentally to play abroad. By the way I wanna thank to my club’s president Javid Gurbanov and NT coach Faig Garayev. Although I had contract with my former club a year more but they let me to play oversea. Then I valued all offers with my manager. Of course it does not mean the best offer is highest sum. Sometime club’s attitude is more important than money. Hyundai’s plenipotentiaries have came to Baku to meet with me. I got positive energy from them and choosed Hyundai. - How do feel yourself in Korea ? Can we say adaptation period over for you ? ⑰: Every beginning is hard. It was hard for me too. But here people are very kind so they help me so much. Yes I can say that my adaptation period ended up. - Your team gets so good results and you show great performance. Is Polina able to make champion her team ? ⑰: I play every match for victory. No matter this is friendly, training or final game. Of course volleyball is a team game not individual. We have good coach and team. We play well game by game. My main dream is to finish the season as champion. - What is the difference between Korea and Europe leagues ? ⑰: Volleyball is here so fast and defense is better than Europe. And people have unbelievable interest for games. We play every match in front of full tribune so it motives me. - Now Turkey’s volleyball league is one of the best and famous of the world. Can we see you in Turkey league ? ⑰: Of course, why not ? Some good players choose Turkey league and my some friends play there. My manager is Turkish (Tunc Afshar) and every season some Turkey teams connect to him for me. We’ll see together what happens.
