...Trying to make this as short as possible..look for moisture Saturday night and Sunday, then again Tuesday night.. could be in form of rain, sleet, snow or combination of any of the fore mentions forms.. Springfield Weather says: .LONG TERM...(Friday Night through Thursday) Issued at 210 PM CST THU JAN 8 2015 -Dry conditions are expected from Friday night through Saturday with upper pattern becoming more zonal and getting a return to southerly winds in the lower levels. This will allow for a moderating trend in temperatures. -A shortwave in the southern stream will push into the southern Plains on Saturday and will allow for better Gulf moisture to return northward into the region for the remainder of the weekend. As this energy moves into the area and interacts with the increasing moisture, will start to see precipitation developing across the CWA. Best precipitation potential will occur over the southeast 1/2 of the CWA. Will see a warm nose of air aloft move into the area as well, which will more than likely bring a period of freezing rain to the area. Precipitation may begin as early as Saturday night when we have surface temperatures dipping down into the mid to upper 20s. These temperatures will rise to freezing or above on Sunday, but will probably head below freezing again on Sunday night. By then, will start to see the colder air aloft begin to nudge southeast, but may also start to lose the cloud ice. Will be going with a mix of freezing rain, sleet and light snow in the transition areas and tried to break precipitation type out individually outside of the transition areas from Saturday night through Sunday night. -By Monday, most of the accumulating precipitation will have pushed off to the east. After a dry period Monday and Tuesday, another shortwave moving in from the west will move into the area Tuesday night. Thermal profiles look cool enough for all snow with this system which will linger into Wednesday.
