“Tulay sa pag BANGON ng VISAYAS” – words that were pressed on every red shirt of M Lhuillier personnel last December 14, 2013 as they spent 48 hours in Leyte. The Executive Vice President of M Lhuillier Philippines, Mr. Michael Lhuillier together with his family and senior managers, moved from random barangays in between the city of Ormoc and Tacloban to offer assistance to the affected families. It was from the beginning after Yolanda hit the Visayas region that the Lhuillier family wanted to go back to Philippines. Setting foot on Ormoc, M Lhuillier Philippines were moved by what they saw. They have seen how the people used boats as their home and yet still manages to smile. With the initiative of this non-bank financial services company, every family has been provided with tarps to be used as their roofs, water filter, food, and other necessary materials they need. It was such an honor for M Lhuillier to be there for those people. The team has opened the gates to hundreds of kids at St. Mary’s Academy in Palo, Leyte. With the help of Child Fund Foundation, the children dramatically assembled their lines and diligently waited for the bags and other school supplies. When asked how was the experience for him, Michael James, eldest son of EVP Michael Lhuillier said, “It keeps you awake, keeps you wanting to help”. And even the EVP himself declared that the smiles of every Filipino has given them energy and determination to give more time and effort for the rebuilding of the community. The ML family believes in the strength of the Filipinos. According to Mrs. Joana Lhuillier, “they have hope in their eyes. Filipinos have that pride and dignity in such time even after the calamity, and it’s unmovable. They absolutely deserve our utmost respect!”. ow.ly/sFK52
