“…Two years is enough for my impact to be felt across the state if I become governor. This is a job that has taken me more than a decade to prepare for. I am not coming to learn the ropes but to hit the ground running because I know exactly what to do in every sector of the state. There is no denying the fact that our economy has been sick since the loss of our oil wells. It takes a consummate and premeditated blue-print to re-invent a much more effective and profitable economy for Cross River. This I intend to fix as soon as I come on board because I believe that once I remedy our economic predicament, every other sector will be wired-up and things will begin to get better. As we open up our economy, we simultaneously expand employment opportunities for our teeming intelligent unemployed youths roaming the streets. I feel much burdened about the plight of Cross River youths and I wish to assure them that a better future awaits them in Cross River. The investments will trickle in and companies will open up across the state. We will try our best to further industrialise the state while ensuring that the industries both public and private driven investments are evenly located across the state so as to generate not only employment for locals but also curb rural migration. We will ensure that our communities are economically vibrant and attractive enough to meet the dreams and aspirations of the rural dwellers. People must be gainfully employed even in their villages. We have the contacts and capacity to make all these happen in Cross River. In my 3 years stint at the National Planning Commission, I was able to positively affect the lives of over 100 youths from Cross River who traveled abroad for capacity development courses free of charge. Still within these 3 years, over fifty youths were gainfully employed in the different federal ministries, departments and agencies. Also within this duration, Cross River youths went abroad to study for master’s degrees through my efforts. I have done many more for our youths which I can begin to list here. I am very passionate about elevating the status of Cross River youths and I have been able to demonstrate this passion in many different ways and endeavours because I strongly believe that Cross River can harvest the best of youth potentials and talents in Africa and the world if adequate attention is paid to this critical class of people…” - Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo
