#UPDATE: 100th HOUR OF ILLEGAL GILLNET RETRIEVAL - 20+ kilometres of illegally set net has been retrieved. - Approx. 200 Vulnerable toothfish have been found, dead. - Female toothfish with eggs have been found, dead. - Other marine life, including crabs, rays, cod icefish and jelly fish have been found, dead. - A majority of the crabs trapped in the nets have been returned to the Southern Ocean. The crew of The MV Sam Simon has now been working around the clock for more than 100 HOURS to retrieve the illegal gillnet, abandoned by the Thunder when it fled from The MV Bob Barker on December 17. Captain Sid Chakravarty reports: “I am overwhelmed with pride by the courage and fortitude of my crew. This work is physically and emotionally taxing, yet hour after hour, through snow and sub-zero temperatures, they battle on. Our motivation lies in knowing that with every metre of line hauled in, we are a metre closer to shutting down the Thunder. We will not stop until this curtain of death is removed from the ocean floor.” The Bob Barker is now on DAY 13 of its pursuit of the Thunder. #SeaShepherd #OperationIcefish
