*UPDATE REGARDING THE MON-TUE STORM* The snow is now beginning to taper off so full storm operations has ceased. Now that we are at the end of this storm, we feel it is now time to go over the current thoughts on the upcoming storm Monday night into Tuesday. An area of low pressure will rapidly deepen as it marches up the eastern seaboard from the North Carolina coast. Models are now beginning to come together on a strong low pressure passing just northwest of the 40/70 benchmark Monday night into Tuesday that slowly rides the coast, making for a significant snowfall for a large portion of New England. Current thoughts on hazards seems to be all snow as cold air will be locked into place even along coastal regions like the Cape and Islands, but for southeastern MA along with the Cape and Islands, high winds (possibly resulting in blizzard conditions) and coastal flooding. Snow accumulations are still being worked out but there is the potential for more than a foot in a large portion of our region. There are still some details that need to be ironed out, so we ask that you please be patient. This storm may have a crippling effect to all commutes, so now is the time to prepare and set your travel plans as well as have an emergency kit for your vehicle should you travel during the storm and get stranded. Tomorrow, we will have our impact map along with our snowfall map out once we have high confidence on the details. You can find our winter storm travel tips from the link below.
