#UPTU_Vice_Chancellor_Has_Resigned_from_his_post Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) vice chancellor RK Khandal has tendered his resignation over ‘differences’ with Akhilesh Yadav-led state government on ‘administrative issues’. However, his resignation is yet to be accepted by the Raj Bhawan. “Yes, I resigned. I have expressed my intention to them (government) in the letter to the governor. I thanked the government for doing so much for me and have asked to be relieved as V-C of the university,” Khandal said on Friday. He however said that he was yet to receive any communication from the governor house. Though a governor house official confirmed the V-C’s resignation, a decision on it was yet to be taken. “Raj Bhawan has received his (V-C) resignation letter. A decision is yet to be taken on it,” the official said. Sources said the V-C had, of late, developed an at-odds relationship with the government- reportedly upset with his style of functioning. The government had also sought explanation from the V-C on several issues. “The government was not happy with some of the appointments made by Khandal without seeking clearance from higher authorities. It included appointment of his close aide BN Mishra as controller of examination,” a source said. The government was also reportedly unhappy with Khandal’s frequent foreign visits, as many of them were made without seeking prior permission from the chancellor. Then there was a recent controversy when the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav after turning down university’s offer to confer an honorary doctorate degree on him, gave the convocation, held on January 12, a miss. Before this, UP government’s Principal Secretary (technical education) Sanjeev Kumar Mittal had walked out of a university related meeting, attended by VC, for he was unhappy over not been kept in loop about important issues.
