**URGENT - looking for Botanical Garden Intern on the Caribbean island of St. Eustatius for 12 weeks ** Details here: STENAPA is a non-governmental nature conservation organization based on the Dutch Caribbean island of St. Eustatius. STENAPA is legally mandated by the Island Government to manage all the island’s protected areas (the Statia National Marine Park, the Quill/Boven National Park as well as a young Botanical Garden) on the 21km2 island of St. Eustatius. Collectively, the protected areas account for 33km2 - more than the total land area. The Assistant Garden Ranger assists with garden maintenance and development at the Botanical garden at least 4 days per week. This is very physical/practical work and so successful candidates should be fit and healthy. We are usually assisted by volunteer groups (numbers vary), which requires a level of maturity and responsibility from the successful candidate. An integral part of the work placement is the opportunity to conduct a project of the applicants own choice. This could be either research-oriented or practical. Past projects include signage; event/exhibition organization, development of new garden spaces, propagation of native species for addition to the plant collection, and plant research projects.
