**Uncle Arthur Wills** July 4th of 1942, that’s the date on which my poor Uncle Arthur Wills stepped from the forest of this world into the clearing of the next one. A tragic car wreck on July 2nd eventually claimed his life. Naturally, everyone in the family of Joseph Hiram and Cassie May Wills was heartbroken over the loss of their beloved son/brother. I was a baby of three months and a few days when Uncle Arthur parted from us. He also left his wife Cora Barefield Wills and his son Carlos, who must also have been devastated by the loss of their beloved Arthur. According to all accounts I have heard, Arthur was a handsome, jovial person, with a sunny, optimistic outlook. Peaceable, loyal, lovable, slow to anger, and quick to forgive—that was he. Many ladies found Arthur’s company highly attractive, and sought him out. He was a friend to many people. This rare photograph was one that I got from my Brother Rick Bradford. Where Rick got it, I’ve no idea. The photograph has suffered heavy damage over the years, primarily from careless handling and bending. These flaws were difficult to work on, but you can see here a little of what Uncle Arthur Wills looked like. Here’s hoping you enjoy this treasured old memory.
