“Urg! Do you know who I hate?” Lucy Markette asked scowling - TopicsExpress

“Urg! Do you know who I hate?” Lucy Markette asked scowling towards the Great Halls massive double doors. Her best friend Lily sighed and leaned into her boyfriend James’ chest. Truth be told Lucy hated a lot of people, a trait Lily had found odd in a Hufflepuff at first, but only one person could make Lucy’s, usually pretty, face twist like someone had thrown a dungbomb at her “Gee I dunno Luce. Something to do with-” “Urg here he comes” Lucy interrupted grimacing “I swear if that idiot says one more stupid thing about me, I’m going to take my beaters bat and ram it up his-” “What up James, how’s it going Lily” Sirius grinned at his two friends then slid reluctantly into the seat opposite them and next to Lucy whose scowl deepened. Lily threw James a concerned look and James sighed, it wasn’t easy going out with a girl whose best friend hates yours with a burning passion, a feeling that was, even more unfortunately, mutual. Sirius and Lucy had always openly despised each other but it had gotten worse since they were forced to start spending more time together when Lily and James had started dating. Of course they both cheered and yelled “Bout time!” and were generally happy that the two had finally become an item. But then the novelty began to wear off. And the fighting had become more intense. It was no longer a couple of harmless pranks here and there; the two were full on fighting. Lily believed it was because they were too alike to co-exist peacefully, whereas James thought it was because Sirius was stupid, Lucy was ruthless and they were both dying to tear each other’s clothes off. It had been like this for months and frankly James was sick of it. Remus had tried counselling them into understanding one another’s point of view, which only appeared to give the Lucy and Sirius more ammunition against one another, and Lily had already yelled herself hoarse at the two and it hadn’t made much of a difference, half an hour after promising to be nicer, Lucy had a stump for an arm and Sirius was a Frisbee floating in the Black Lake. It had been a trying time. James was surprised they could stand sitting next to each other for longer than two seconds. “Sirius can you at least try to be nice to Lucy too?” James sighed irritably after Sirius had settled in his seat. Sirius’ eyes sparked mischievously “Lucy two? Gotta be an improvement on the first one, I can’t see them getting worse”. “Sirius!” Lily admonished as Lucy’s eyes darkened. “Ok, alright, fine. Morning… creature” he said in an overly cheery tone “eat any unfortunate travellers that happened to wander across your bridge today?” “Sirius!” Lucy rolled her eyes “Forget about it Lils. There’s no point in pretending he’s a civilized human being, he’s a caveman, and that’s putting it nicely, you’re lucky you’re with James or I reckon this idiot would have clubbed you over the head and dragged you into a broom cupboard by now.” “Your mum didn’t have to be dragged” Sirius said innocently, taking a bite of his bacon sandwich and smirking. Lucy bowed her head, a couple of tears streaming down her face “Actually my mother’s dead, she died last summer… thanks for making a joke out of it.” “Wha- I didn’t-” Sirius choked out, backpedalling. “I can’t believe you’d be so… so… bloody gullible” Lucy grinned wickedly at Sirius’ gaping face “I’ll see you in class Lil” she said scooping up her bag and making her way towards the double doors, swinging her hips in triumph. “I can’t believe you made a joke out of your mum being dead! That’s just sick” Sirius managed to yell after her, trying to keep the tone of grudging respect out of his voice “she bloody cried! How did she do that?!” he mumbled mutinously. Sirius sat back down quickly when he realized he wasn’t the only one watching after her. He crossed his arms, obviously sulking, glared at his uneaten food and mumbled about ideas for revenge plans. Maybe he’d chop off her long dark brown hair that fell all the way to her waist, flowing around her body and framing her pale face and stormy blue eyes, both of which were usually scrunched up in disdain. Well, whenever Sirius was around they were. Sirius shook his head, trying to clear it of the image of her stupid scrunchy face. Maybe he could kidnap her owl, that’d kill her, and Merlin loved him so much it wouldn’t even be hard. Oh or electricity! Sirius wasn’t sure what to do with it but it seemed like a fun idea. Of course the prospects of revenge plans did well to dissipate his sulky mood. Suddenly Sirius jumped to his feet and ran from the room without another word. James rolled his eyes and pulled Lily closer to him she was the only one who could really understand how being caught between those two were. Although Remus was a close second. Remus had had a massive crush on Lucy for over two years and, though he didn’t feel the same way about her as he did before, he was still quite overprotective towards her. Peter on the other hand was just plain scared of Lucy, no matter how nice she tried to be he always ended up squeaking and running to hide behind Sirius. Of course he had been passing information on her for years and was terrified of getting caught so he had good reason to be scared. Lucy would destroy him. Or worse, Sirius would step in and they would destroy each other. That was the only reason why Lily hadn’t told Lucy everything. Lily didn’t know what to do, she was torn between her boyfriend’s best friend that she had grown to love and her best friend who had stuck by her and stood up for her through… everything, through her friendship with Severus, through the bullying Slytherin’s, through her indecision with James… Everything. “Come on James” she said sadly, standing and holding out her hand for him to take. “We should probably get to potions before Slughorn…” she trailed off unsure about what he would do. “…Calls us an adorable couple then let us make out in the store room?” James asked cheekily, leaning closer to her. “I actually like to learn” Lily bit back lightly.. “Ah you LIKE to learn, but you LOVE me” he said emphasizing like and love obnoxiously. “Well that might be true” she whispered before kissing him softly. “Ahem, if you two will stop sucking face, we have a class to get to” James and Lily didn’t break apart and Remus rolled his eyes, he always ended up prying those two apart. “You do realise both Sirius and Lucy are in potions… alone… without anyone to stop them from murdering each other” Remus said trying not to grin. Their faces were priceless. “Oh crap” they said in unison and sprinted, hand in hand, towards their lesson with a very amused Remus following slowly in their wake. It was going to be an amusing lesson. On arrival nobody was that surprised to find Sirius being drowned in his own cauldron by a bald Lucy who was holding his head under an unidentifiable liquid. Some things never change. So I noticed that a few of you liked my other Lucy story, though its hard to tell because I was mostly saying sorry for it lol, so I decided to post another story I wrote a little while ago with her in it thats a bit happier. Hope you like it! - Cristie
