#UsapanSaBarangay BAGO NANAMANG COACH PARA SA GINEBRA?? Source: Jeff Cariaso out as Ginebra coach, Ato Agustin set to re-assume reins IT is another rockin Christmas for Barangay Ginebra. A source told Spin.ph that another major coaching change is set to be implemented at Ginebra, with management set to re-appoint Ato Agustin as head coach following two dismal conferences under Jeffrey Cariaso. Spin.ph has learned that Agustins re-appointment was finalized by Ginebra management on Tuesday, but has yet to be announced to the team which is on a holiday break. No official word has come out of the San Miguel Corporation camp but sources said Agustin will likely begin handling the team when it returns to practice on January 5 at a still undecided venue. Its regular training facility, the CCF gym, is under renovation. Once it becomes official, the appointment will mark the second tour of duty for Agustin as Ginebra mentor, having handled the team for two conferences following the resignation of Alfrancis Chua beginning in the 2013 PBA Governors Cup. It will be recalled that the team also announced Chuas rise to the head-coaching position in place of Siot Tanquingcen around Christmas time in 2012. Chua, now the Ginebra alternate governor, is overseas and cannot be reached for comment on the latest development. Cariaso tried to implement the triangle offense when he assumed the reins in last seasons Governors Cup, but the leagues most popular team failed to go deep in the playoffs in his two conferences in charge. No reason has been given for the coaching change, but insiders said Ginebra has had difficulty transitioning to the triangle offense after years as a run-and-gun team as tension rose within the ballclub. There has also been no word on whether Cariaso will stay at Ginebra in another capacity or will be shipped back to Purefoods Star Hotshots to return to his old role as Tim Cones deputy.
