~WHITTON Weekly 23 January 2015 Number 15 The Independent voice of Whitton and Heathfield. Local Issues-News-Politics-Business-Technology-Sport & Entertainment-Campaigning-Lifestyle ARE WHITTON PUBLIC TOILETS A DANGER TO HEALTH? Our readers have enthusiastically responded to our campaign for Richmond Council to improve the quality of the public toilets in Whitton That concern was heightened by a letter that raised questions about risks to Public Health “Dirty filthy and shocking, no toilet paper and no soap” a reader But the response from The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames to our question – ‘do they present a danger to health’ - was silence We wrote to and telephoned Paul Chadwick the Environment Director, and Dr Dagmar Zeuner the Director of Public Health (a Member of the Health and Wellbeing Board) asking for reassurance that ‘the unhygienic and disgraceful condition of the public toilets does not present a danger to public health.’ But they were unavailable for comment The health and well-being of the citizens of Whitton is a concern for us all, including Officers of The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. We are reminded of the ostrich - happy with its head in the sand PS Our attention was drawn to the local Conservative Party Facebook page saying the toilets are to be cleaned. whittonconservatives.co.uk/2015/01/action-on-whitton-library-toilets_21.html They somehow failed to mention the campaign by this newspaper. Was that a coincidence, or just politics?
