#WRITTEN BY ADEYANJU IBRAHIM ENERGY COMMISSION ABUJA. Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency; WHO IS GOOD TO GO? As the people of Yewa South/Ipokia South prepare to go to the poll again come February 14 to elect who represent them in Abuja; precisely the House of Representatives. I think it’s high time we x-ray the strength of each of the candidate representing their respective parties. Notable on the list of parties presenting candidates for the legislative post includes the All Progressives Party (APC), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and the People Democratic Party (PDP). UPN is presenting one Hon. Hunye Semako Abayomi who in 2011 having failed in his desire to become the Governor of Ogun state, Senator of Ogun West, member of the House of Representatives(Yewa South/Ipokia), Lcoal government Chairman of Ipokia all at the same time, had to settle for the Commissioner 2 given to him in the Amosun’s government. He aspired for the All Progressives Congress’ party ticket, the intrigues didn’t favour him, he went to the SDP whose gaming was also against is interest and less than 2 months to the election he came up with the UPN – believing a magic. As a serving appointee of the Amosun’s administration, I find it hard to fathom the fact that the secretariat of Ipokia LG alongside the entire Ipokia community is still in ‘darkness’, can’t our ‘face’ in the government lobby just 10 transformers from the hyped 500 transformer the SIA government bought in 2012? What did Hunye brought to Ipokia LG as a serving appointee of the LG in the Amosun’s government? Any human capacity development? Job facilitation? Youth empowerment or project facilitation? At the last time I investigated none, if there is I look forward to be challenged with fact and figures and not hear says. We all have heard about Hon. Hosu Emanuel; a former local government Chairman of Ipokia, who later served on the board of Ogun State Property Investment Corporation, OPIC and was also a ministry commissioner under the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Hosu is presently the candidate of the SDP for this ‘exposed and cosmopolitan’ federal constituency in Ogun West. Let their past judge like a friend of mine said, what did Hosu brought to Ipokia even as the ‘Executive Chairman’, even as a member of the board of Ogun State’s property company; What was brought to Ipokia LG? Did Hosu empower anybody in Ipokia as a commissioner under OGD? If we have let’s talk it out so we can juxtapose with others. But if not, who says he has repented and will be a better man when elected as Reps member to be living in far away Abuja? The All Progressive Congress, APC is even the worst in the evaluation regarding Ipokia LG, why Abdulkareem Tajudeen Adekunle Akinlade of all people? A man whose real identity has been hidden in the last 4 years, he was re trenched from the corporate world for ‘dirty dealings’, he started consulting for a government in the South-south part of Nigeria, but as his usual ‘dirty dealings’ character will have it this man with 2 Islamic names(1st in my 30 years sojourn on earth) he was relief of the contract for ‘unreasonable characters’. Taju ‘triple A’ got appointed by Amosun in 2011 as SSA Taxatiom & IGR, but within 2 years the IGR soured as he claimed, but the increase was suspiciously invisible and allegation of fraud was leveled against Tajudeen making Amosun to redeploy him to the ministry of women affairs, before he was finally shown the way out of Amosun’s government. In all these, I make bold to say it that Kunle didn’t find it worthy to bring somethings home for the people of Ipokia, not until when he knew he wanted to use the vote of the good people to step up in his ‘dirt dealings’ if he gets to the House of representatives(God Forbid). Ipokia people don’t try Triple A at all, he is nothing but a 419, he deceives people of his status, he shows what he is not. Now there’s Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Reps candidate and a leading governorship aspirant in the just concluded PDP primaries. We were told that he was an accountant with Automania Nig LTD before honourably resigning & venturing into politics (although we were not there). But as a politician, Akinlade has made good use of the opportunity given unto him by the people of Yewa South/ Ipokia Federal Constituency by at least looking back on the people on whose vote he got to the House of Reps. There is hardly any of the 22 wards in whole of his federal constituency where you wont find one project or the other by this man; ranging from ICT centre to Solar powered bore hole, Solar street lights, Cassava Processing Centres, Vocational centres, Primary health Centres, Installation of Transformers, Building of Classrooms, Building of a whole Primary School for the Community, Renovation of Town Halls, Construction of a Multi-Million Civic Centre at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and other projects too many to mention (All these we can see by ourselves). Yes, Akinlade must have his flaws like you and me, some says he lacks oratory prowess and that a politician impress the people while talking (How that turns development I dont know), that he lacks political god fathers (reason for which he lost the guber ticket), that he doesnt pick most of his calls and so on and so forth. But the question is what is the mass of the people whose life Akinlade has affected says about him? I am one of the over 500 graduates Akinlade empowered with federal government jobs, I and many other colleagues lived with him at his official quaters, Apo Abuja for our first one year before finally moving to our apartment for other set of beneficiary to come in. Not less than 30 indiegens of Ipokia local government including my humble self are currently on running our masters on the bill of our various Agencies at the instance of Hon. Akinlade Abiodun. Infact, one us from Agosasa, whose name I wont mention was on Monday conferred with a Ph.D from the Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand. I can go on and on talking about Akinlade and his good work that have turn things around for good for a lot families. I really have nothing against all the aspirants and their parties as am not a politician but my concern is our society. We must always go for the best and we can afford to sacrifice the best in Akinlade for the sake of any personal interest. I am compelled to put this together because all ive read on facebook recently is more of a wishy-washy approach to issues. Thanks for reading my piece.
