(WSJ) Obama to Control Strikes on Syria The U.S. military - TopicsExpress

(WSJ) Obama to Control Strikes on Syria The U.S. military campaign against Islamic militants in Syria is being designed to allow President Barack Obama to exert a high degree of personal control over the campaign, going so far as to require that the military obtain presidential sign-off for any strike in Syrian territory, U.S. officials said. The requirement for the Syrian strikes will be far more stringent than those in Iraq, at least at first, to assure the Syrian air campaign remains strictly limited, in an attempt to mitigate the threat that the U.S. could be dragged more deeply into the conflict, according to the U.S. officials. Officials said no decisions were made at a briefing Wednesday, and Mr. Obama didnt give the green light yet for an attack on Syria.
