....Waggy-tail news from wise Guide Dog Willow So my Mum is really pleased with my progress as each day the lumpy abscess under my right chin/throat/neck area has been shrinking to almost nothing! I have just finished my last sprinkle antibiotic tablet which the nice Vet gave me - so following 14 days on these wonderful tablets it seems I am back to normal! Cheek of it, when was I abnormal - even so, Mum, insisted on doing some sort of test-runs on me - cheek again - I am no mechanical turbo-charged metal vehicle that needs test-running! I am Mums majestic wonderfully highly skilled & fully qualified working Guide Dog....like the other amazing 5,000 or so guide dogs changing lives around the UK. I am working superbly, Mums words not mine, and have guided her locally back & forth all on foot to get shopping & food at Tescos twice this week & enjoying a little break & refreshment in the local coffee shops too of course - thirsty work for the both of us as the weather has been rather warm & dry too. Off to Colchester bustling town centre tomorrow to make a donation to the Missing Guide Dog Tess Fund set up as a secure separate account, so I will guide Mum via the bus to her Bank & queue nicely & find her the teller counter when the tanoy announces counter number 3 please.....I always guide Mum carefully passed the other customers & sit proudly wagging my tail so Mum knows we are at correct place to start her business transactions & talk to the window! Banks are odd places & I spend a long time patiently in them too & have steps up & down to negotiate...if Banks have all that money surely they can get a safe ramp! Then Mum says will go shopping at Marks & Spencer then onto Boots & perhaps the music shop (called HMV) to pre- order Barbra Streisands new CD Partners. Then a relax in Costa Coffee in the pedestrian precinct off the bustling traffic laden High Street - the staff adore me there, errr & my Mum too, and have a proper doggy water bowl for when I arrive - how kind & assertive is that! Then we are due to collect for Guide Dogs ( to help make more younger models of me for the future) at the lovely friendly Sainsburys Store who have nearly raised enough money to name a Guide Dog Puppy in training - so I am going to look my best adoringly at all their shoppers to ensure we can fill my Mums collecting tin to help such a worthy cause....in fact there is a photo of myself Willow wearing my white harness with my Mum & other guide dog owners & Puppy Walkers with their guide dogs pups & Sainsbury Staff Members holding a big cheque for this cause - in Forward Magazine (September 2014) guidedogs.org.uk/forward - so proud of Sainsburys & hope we do well on the 11th September for you...Mum will probably buy some tasty bread too! When weve done all the above I will insist on guiding Mum through the cluttered obstacle A-Board streets, known locally as Eld Lane & Short Wyre Streets which are notoriously narrow pathways past lots of small shops - worth the hazards guiding through all this mayhem as the tiny Pet Shop will be open, and I know my Mum will want to buy me some special healthy chew rawhide sticks there & perhaps I could claim Willow points for a new squeaky soft plush toy!
