The ultra-conservative movement is allegedly based on the teachings of the Sunni jurist Ahmad ibn Hanbal, and the ideology was later revised by the Wahhabis. “After the eighteenth century, Wahhabism spread to various parts of the Islamic world as a highly politicized school of thought. independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/wahhabism-a-deadly-scripture-398516.html Hanafi is a one of the four recognized schools in Islam in jurisprudence (fiqh). Its founder is Imam Abu Hanifa. A school in fiqh like the hanafi school is a way in which a Muslim learns how to pray, fast, make hajj and so on according to how the founder of this school interpreted the Quran and Sunna of the Prophet. The 4 major recognized schools in Islam are Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi^i, and Hanbali. A Muslim can follow any of these schools. Each of the founders of these schools are highly knowledgeable and credible scholars that have reached a level of knowledge that enables them to make religious deliberations. None of us has reached this level and so we follow these Mujtahideen (scholars). However, all four schools and their respective imams and followers all follow the same belief. So they are all Muslims and they follow the same creed. The application in some matters such as prayer and fasting and zakat is different and that is it. Wahhabism is in reference to followers of Muhammad Bin Abdel Wahab who was an innovator that came around 250 years ago in what is known now as Saudi Arabia. In short, he invented a new creed and called it Islam. He called his followers Muslims and everybody other than them not Muslim. They killed the Followers of Quran, Sunnah and Aqeeda Of Ahla Sunnah Al Jamah and rose to power with the endorsement of the Saudi family and western powers. A few years later his followers spent vasts amounts of money to spread their corrupt belief and have managed to change history books and to mention Muhammad bin Abdel Wahab as the one who renewed the Islamic message. Of course he renewed nothing and he is a Dal-Mudal, and ignorant guy that misguides people. And you do not have to take my word for it. You can review literature from his own father and his brother, which were both genuine Muslim Sunni Hanbali Shiekhs. The wahhabie movement followers now a days call themselves salafis. These are the idiots killing and blowing up mosques. Also the wahhabie movement combined with the Ikhwan movement which call themselves the Muslim brotherhood gave rise to the all famous Osama Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda. Wahhabies claim they follow the hanbali school and they are of course very far from this.
