“We decided to use this for good nutrition and as a work plan to raise awareness for good nutrition and gardening,” said Beth Daniel, District 4 Health promotion coordinator. “We wanted to teach kids how to grow their own healthy food.” BGCWG’s Garden Club consists of fifth grade students who tend to the garden everyday. “They water it everyday, clear the weeds, and right now they’re looking for the little pests that’ve been nibbling away at the leaves,” Daniel said.
