We have no AC and must have our windows open during the summer. Our outdoor cats rub up against the screens to play with our indoor cats and fleas get through the screens. We go through this every summer and its a nightmare. Carpet in the home is a breeding ground for fleas. I use food grade diatomaceous earth to sprinkle (sprinkle with a sieve ) on the carpet to naturally kills the fleas. NO CHEMICALS !! Be sure to remove animal(s) from the room being treating, use a face mask when applying it so that it does not get in your lungs. The powder must stay in the carpet a few days before you vacuum . When its time to vacuum once again remove animal(s) from the room and use a face mask. We like to use a HEPA vacuum bag . FYI : diatomaceous earth kills by physical action, not chemical. The tiny diatoms scratch off the insects waxy coating, and they dehydrate and die.
