“We need to rekindle those values, those strengths as a nation and as a people... And we must do so as one people with one goal.” Kamla Persad-Bissessar Cheques valuing $25,000 were distributed to 17 Mandirs within Caroni Central as a token of appreciation for their contribution to culture. It is anticipated that these funds will be used to do something institutional to improve the temples. I must applaud the Madam PM who in her wisdom continues to strive to assist such institutions go further, recognizing the value of such institutions as the cornerstone of community and family life. These funds can be employed as a seed capital to the start of many projects. I am most passionate about seeing progress within my constituency; it gives me a fulfillment when I am able to bring a smile to the faces of constituents. Over the past four years my office has been working hand in hand with these temples to further their interest. They have accessed help through programmes such as NSDP with electricity, lighting and maintenance work. My dedicated staff and I have been an instrumental part of these Mandirs as we regularly visit and always extend our welcome to them. Over the years we have built an unbreakable bond as the Caroni Central family.
