~~~Weather Update~~~ * Warm air continues to spread north across the region this afternoon. The freezing rain advisories have been trimmed back, and now are only in effect until 7 pm this evening for Aroostook, northern Somerset, Piscataquis, and northern and central Penobscot Counties. Even in these areas, there are a lot of areas where temperatures are well above freezing. As there are still a few pockets where temps are in the upper 20s to low 30s there could be a bit of freezing rain early this evening. The ice is not expected to accrete on the power lines, but could cause some slick spots on roads and walkways. * Strong wind is expected late tonight into Monday morning, along and near the coast. A high wind warning remains in effect from midnight until noon Monday for coastal and central Washington County and coastal Hancock County. Some power outages are likely. * A steadier rain will develop tonight and continue into Monday. The rain will taper to scattered showers and drizzle from south to north during the afternoon. Temperatures tomorrow will be the mildest this month, with highs from the upper 30s to mid 40s across northern Maine, with mid to upper 40s Down East. * It will turn much colder again Mon night with some snow or at least snow showers across far northern Maine and the western Mountains where an inch or two of snow is possible. Down East areas will slowly dry out Mon night. Tuesday will be a windy day with seasonably cold temperatures. * Dry and seasonably cold weather is expected Wednesday through Friday, with the next chance of precipitation Sat night into Sunday.
