Glad someone explained this very simple concept, because a lot of men seem to be clueless. ) RE: Catcalling - There is A LOT wrong with a total stranger saying Hi Beautiful to someone. You dont just approach someone in a public place when theyre clearly on their way to do something and draw attention to both them and yourself, making them a spectacle. Thats not giving someone a compliment. If you want to be friendly, look someone in the eye and smile. If they want to reciprocate the gesture and/or expand communication, they will. Its up to them. Otherwise, they dont owe you anything, and to aggravate further is intrusive and, therefore, harassment. This isnt the same as approaching someone in a bar or at a location of shared interest. This is interrupting someone in the midst of transit to objectify them, which is entirely different. Glad this is a discussion thats finally happening.
