(Western) Samoa gained independence from NZ,but,(Eastern) Samoa is still under U.S. as a territory, where most of the youth look to the strong military recruiting presence on the island as a means to gain an education, seek better opportunity, and to get off the crowded rock among other personal reasons,Im sure, but, why arent Amerikan Samoans granted U.S. citizenship unless they come to the states only after going to war first?(note: American Samoa has had the highest recruitment rate, and casualty rate in the Iraq war,per capita, out off all U.S. states and territories) What has the U.S. ever given back in return? would granting us independence as in Western islands, bring both Samoas back together,or cause too much confusion? I wonder what would independence in Amelika Samoan really mean? these are just questions that have been floating in my noggen for too long, any and all opinions, and perspectives are always welcome...Bless!
