What is the Islamic State? It is natural that those who cannot comprehend what is the Islamic State will think that it can come into existence by a military coup or by a group waving Kalishnikovs wearing face-masks. A good starting point is to define what we are looking to establish - ie what is the Islamic State. This alone would be sufficent to show that the hypothetical scenarios of a General doing a military coup or the fantasy of an armed group destroying the Ummahs armed forces to arrive at power would actually even lead to the establishment of the Islamic State. So here is a summary of what the Islamic State is which further proves the divine method of the Messenger (saw) is the only way in which it can arise. 1. The Islamic state is built on the Aqeedah and NOT on the shariah rules which are a consequence. 2. The Islamic State is an executive entity for a host of concepts, criteria and convictions which emanate from this Aqeedah ie the authority which manages/supervises the interests of the people who made the Aqeedah the basis of their interests and relationships. 3. This authority changes when the concepts, criteria and convictions change of the masses who then withdraw their authorization of the current authority and shift it to a new authority which now represents the newly adopted concepts, criteria and convictions. 4. This is exemplified by the change of authority in Medina from Abdullah ibn Ubay to the Messenger (saw) when the success of the dawa resulted in the Aqeedah becoming the basis of the Medinan society with the people adopting the concepts, criteria and convictions of the Aqeedah to be their vewpoint of life and basis of all relationships/actions. This extract from Article One of The Constitution of the Islamic State illustrates the point quite well: Ibnu Ishaq reported: ?When The Messenger of Allah (saw) came to Madinah, the leader there was Abdullah Ibnu Ubay Inbu Salul Al-Aufi. None of his own folk contested his authority. The Aws and Khazraj were never united behind a man before or after him until Islam came, as they did to him. Abdullah Ibnu Ubay?s people had made a sort of jewelled diadem to crown him and make him their king when Allah (swt) sent His Messenger (saw) to them. So his folk abandoned him and turned to Islam, giving their leadership and their loyalty to the Messenger of Allah (saw). The Messenger of Allah (saw) issued a document concerning the emigrants and the Ansar (helpers) and describing them as being one single Ummah to the exclusion of all other people. He (saw) addressed them by saying: ?Whenever you differ about a matter, it must be referred to Allah and to Mohammed.? This serves as evidence that authority changes according to the change of the viewpoint about life. forum.hizbuttahrir.org/showthread.php?2663-What-is-the-Islamic-State
