“When Pain Is Redemptive” No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Hebrews 12:11 We’re learning lessons from the Desert Place which was the 40 year story for the children of Israel. The Desert Place is not exactly a joy ride, but it is necessary to forge a relationship of trust. Like Israel, sometimes God will give us what we demand and let us take the consequences. This is not because He hates us or has given up on us. As harsh as those consequences may be, they are still under the control of a God who loves us and a God sees the big picture. Enter “discipline”. It’s the means of training when God produces righteousness and peace. And God knows we desperately need these things. Because He cares so much, He will bring corrective discipline into our lives. It’s His discipline that will prepare us for the challenges and conflicts that lie in our future. Pain will come in life. We all know that. But God uses pain to transform us. He uses the hurts to redeem us and set us up for a bright future. For Patience in the Desert Place, Pastor Bob & Esther
