“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. ~ Luke 15:17-20 The idea that we need to have our lives together to come to God is ridiculous. Here is the prodigal son, covered in mud from tending the pigs, stomach growling, returning to his father. Sure he has a great speech planned, but even before he can say a word, his father runs out to meet him and throws his arms around him. He didnt care what condition his son was in, he only cared that He returned home. God feels the same way about us. We dont need to prove anything to God...He just wants us to be His. Living in sin? Ask Him to help you find a way out. Destroyed the good in your life with poor decisions? Ask Him to make it right. Turned your back on Him out of anger and frustration of never being good enough? Tell God youre sorry and ask Him to restore His fellowship with you. You dont have to be out there all alone, my friend. Your Father wants you home.
