“Whenever any good news or glad tiding was told to the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), he would prostrate in gratitudeto Allah.” [Sunan Abu Dawud] What do you do when you get good news? Do you thank Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) for His bounty or do you think you are responsible for your good fortune? Isn’t Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) the one who gave you the body and mind you used? Isn’t Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) the one who opened the doors of opportunity for you? Should He close them, is there anyone who can open them again? We call ourselves lucky (thanking our lucky stars) or we blame our luck, as the case may be. While, doing so, is nothing short of our denying Allah’s Will and His Provision.
